More sales from the traffic you already have
A theme does not break on a tidy demo store. It breaks on yours — the one with 340 products, three missing images and a collection called 'Sale (old)'. Gain has more merchant reviews than any theme we publish, and every one of them arrived with their own mess.
Buying a theme means trusting a stranger’s judgement about a thousand decisions you have not made yet.
The person who built it tested it, of course. On their demo store: twelve products, all with perfect photography, titles of roughly equal length, no collection called “Sale (old)” that everyone is afraid to delete.
Your store does not look like that. It has 340 products, three of which have no image because the supplier never sent one. One product title runs to 94 characters and breaks the grid. There is a filter you switched on once and forgot. And there is that collection called “Sale (old)”.
A theme does not break on the perfect store. It breaks on yours.
78 merchants have already put Gain through that — the most of the six themes we publish, and more than three quarters of the market, where the median is 23 reviews. Each of them arrived with their own mess. And every place the theme creaked has already been repaired, not because we were clever, but because somebody wrote to us about it.
Version 4.3.1. That is not a first attempt or a second. That is a theme that has met a Black Friday, a platform update and the person with the 94-character title.
You can see it in the small things nobody notices while they are working. Cart upsell is built into the theme’s code — there is not even a switch for it, because in all that time nobody asked to turn it off. The announcement bar arrives on, because a store without one looks uninhabited, and 78 people confirmed that silently. Quick view from the collection grid is on from the start too.
That is not a feature list. It is the mark left by other people’s mistakes, so that you do not have to make them.
Gain ships five presets, and one of them stands apart. Mio sits 2nd of 44 in the Art category as of September 2026.
Second. Out of forty-four.
If you sell prints, posters, originals or anything where the image is the product, that means something specific: a person browsing for a gallery theme sees Mio on the first screen, without scrolling. We do not control that placement — Shopify’s own browse put it there.
The Gain preset itself sits 17th of 261 in Clothing, the top five per cent of the most crowded category in the store.
August 2026: 74.9% of mobile visits to stores running Gain passed all Core Web Vitals, against a market median of 84.8%. That is below the middle, and we are not going to dress it up.
Two facts belong next to it, both worth your attention. On desktop the same metric reads 86.6%, above the market median of 86.2%. And the figure describes stores rather than code — every hero image, app and font in all of them. The theme sets a range; your own above-the-fold image and the number of scripts in your header decide where inside it you land.
If mobile speed is the thing you are fighting this quarter, the honest answer is to look at our Allure instead: 85.7%, the fastest of our six. We would rather say that out loud than sell you the wrong theme.
Gain defines 1,677 settings. You will use a few dozen, and two are worth doing immediately.
Sticky add to cart is one checkbox in the product section. It arrives off, because on a short page a persistent bar is only clutter. On a long one — description, size guide, reviews — it rescues the shopper who read to the end and has nothing to press.
Recently viewed is one click too. A person opens four products, closes three, and loses the one they liked. That section brings it back, with no app involved.
$100, once, for the theme and all five presets. The median Shopify theme price is $300.
78 merchants rated Gain 4.5 out of 5. A theme with eight reviews and a perfect score tells you considerably less about itself than that pair of numbers does.
Open Mio on your phone and walk the path your customer will walk: home, collection, product, cart. Then type a misspelled word into the search. Then set a filter that should return nothing.
Ten minutes. It will tell you more than this page can.

CRO Diary is published by UTD BV, which develops the Gain theme. Position data from our own daily crawl of all thirteen Shopify Theme Store categories, September 2026. Core Web Vitals from Chrome UX Report field data, March–August 2026. Settings counted from the Gain 4.3.1 release archive.
$100, once, for the theme and all five presets: Gain, Mio, Lace, Maison and Sable. The median Shopify theme price is $300 across 305 themes with a listed price. You also get every update we ship, and Gain is on version 4.3.1, which is to say it has been revised a lot.
Because ratings are compressed and counts are not. The median theme rating across 308 themes is 4.85 out of 5, so almost everything looks excellent and the scale stops separating anything. Review count varies enormously — median 23, maximum 1,292 — and it tells you how many stores have actually lived with a theme through a platform update and a peak season. Gain's 78 is the useful number on its listing.
Mio, which sits 2nd of 44 in the Art category as of September 2026. If you sell prints, posters, originals or anything where the image is the product, that position means shoppers browsing for a gallery theme see Mio without scrolling. The Gain preset itself sits 17th of 261 in Clothing, the top five per cent of the most crowded category in the store.
Below the market middle on mobile and slightly above it on desktop. In August 2026, 74.9% of mobile visits to stores running Gain passed all Core Web Vitals against a market median of 84.8%; desktop was 86.6% against a median of 86.2%. If mobile speed is the constraint you are working against this quarter, our Allure theme sits at 85.7% and is the faster choice.
Yes, and it is built into the theme's code rather than offered as a switch, so there is nothing to enable. The announcement bar and quick view from the collection grid also arrive switched on. Sticky add to cart and recently viewed arrive off and are the two worth turning on in your first session.
