Editorial policy

Data, anonymization, estimates and corrections.

First-person, but sourced

The diary is written in first person and draws on real audit work, but every external figure — benchmark rates, platform pricing, study results — is linked to its source with the date it was checked. I do not print numbers I cannot point to.

Client examples

Stores that appear in entries are anonymized: niche, traffic band and the relevant numbers are kept, names and identifying details are removed or changed. No entry is published about a client without their agreement.

Estimates

Where I estimate, I say so, and I show the assumption behind the estimate. Ranges are preferred to single invented numbers.

Experiments

Experiment logs report the setup, the duration, the sample and the result — including losses and inconclusive tests. A diary that only records wins is a brochure.

Corrections

Errors are corrected in the entry with a dated note. Request a correction at diary@crodiary.com.

AI assistance

Entries are drafted with AI language models, working only from the sources, audits and data described above. Every entry carries a short "AI-drafted from sourced data" note next to its byline for exactly this reason.

Affiliate and referral links

Some entries link to UTD's own Shopify themes, alongside independent tools and services I cover the same way. Some links may earn the diary a commission. Neither UTD's ownership of this site nor any commission ever decides what I recommend; recommendations follow what the audits show.
